It does just seem like "water" isn't necessary - like this could just be "river networks" or "fluvial networks".
However, here's another one with "river water network":

Can’t pull up a link here, but it’s searchable:
Disaggregation, aggregation and spatial scaling in hydrological…,A Becker
Geo-referenced data on land use, soil type and the river water network (with sub-catchment areas)

If you find you need to stress that water is actually flowing, you could say:
active river networks, active fluvial networks, flowing river networks
(I see 'active' as opposed to 'potential' in the first two cases.)

agree  fionn: (active) fluvial/river networks - better than river water networks
1 hr
  -> Thanks, fionn, and I agree - the water is obvious.

agree  Chris E: Definitely "fluvial networks" in a geological/hydrogeological context. The "water" seems totally superfluous, but maybe you could say fluvial watercourse network?
1 hr
  -> Thanks, Chris - yes it does seem superfluous. You mainly see it in connection with the water network of a particular river. Not sure about watercourse - maybe?

agree  gallagy2: prefer "active fluvial networks"

  -> Thanks, gallagy2 :)

agree  Christine Walsh: So do I
