Spanish to English translations [PRO] Science - Geology / Edaphology
Spanish term or phrase:Disgregabilidad
¿Cómo puedo traducir disgregabilidad del suelo? Es decir, capacidad para disgregarse (ser separado en particulas).
Un suelo disgregable es un suelo que no se "apelmaza" mucho.
Ejemplo:
La erosión previsible puede graduarse según pendientes y disgregabilidad del suelo en: baja, moderada y alta.
A mayor disgregabilidad, es previsible una mayor erosión.
Gracias por adelantado
Explanation: It is my field of expertise. A soil can be friable but still with a good structure and is not very affected by erosion.
When the soil is dispersed then it is very fast lost by erosion. Particles do not hold together.

Thanks for the answer. As a forest engineer, I also had to study Edaphology (soil science)and in my opinion, your answer gets more close to the original (at least in my text). However, I rekon it depends on the context, so I'm not going to add it to the glossary (It's up to you and to the others). 4 KudoZ points were awarded for this answer
To match this in the sentence, you should write "estado de dispersión". It is not the same as friability. A soil can be friable and good in structure. But when it is dispersed, structure is not good, and so erodibility gets higher. Cheers...
1 Only writting the question takes more than 15 seconds, furthermore, the dictionaries give you the answer immediately so you can continue translating, here you get the answer several hours later and you have to come back to your text and find all the places in which it appears and replace it. So I take for granted (and so far all the askers and answered I have came across with) that not only me, but almost every asker looks the word up in several dictionaries before asking.
2 The term friabilidad also exists in Spanish, but it is not exactly the same (in my opinion).
3 I did not include the answers I found since i considered them to be unreliable, as I said.
If you've looked it up in umpteen dictionaries, it's important to say so, and tell us what you've found. Otherwise it looks like you're asking us to do your research for you.
I haven't been that lucky. Not in wordreference, neither in the websters dictionary, nor in wikipedia, wikitionary, linguee, faoterm, collins dictionary...
The only place in which I have found it is in the "supertrustful and reliable wordmagicsoft" and the options proposed: friableness, crumbliness do not math with the options given by other peers here.
Have you looked this up in a dictionary? I found it in about 15 seconds.
