Curada por XXX, esta muestra traza por primera vez un panorama de la variedad de universos simbólicos surgidos de esas sociedades, a partir de una selección especial del patrimonio de numerosas instituciones, de museos dependientes del XXXXX de México y del Museo de XXXX

I have seen this construction a thousand times and can never come up with a suitable translation. It is not "dependent on"...it refers to some sort of connection between the institutions but I can't find the right term.

I much prefer 'under the', if it fits the context. It keeps up the flow of your text without calling too much attention to the nature of the relationship.
