Spanish to English translations [PRO]
Government / Politics / SPANISH SOCIAL SECURITY
Spanish term or phrase: CEA:
I am translating a letter from the Spanish social security administration and am at the very end where the Regional Director signs his/her name. Next to the name are the letters "CEA:" then a long number. Can anyone tell me what this

"CEA:" could mean in English?

Electronic Authentication Code (EAC)
Explanation:
I dunno why I didn't post this as an answer in the first place...

Have a look at the link from the Spanish SS authorities below, where it specifies:

"Segundo.-Como garantía y marca de autenticidad de todos los documentos incluidos en el ámbito de aplicación de esta resolución se crea el código electrónico de autenticidad, identificable con las siglas CEA, original y único para cada documento generado electrónica y automáticamente, que permitirá controlar el carácter genuino y veraz de su contenido y la identidad del firmante."

This seems to fit your context perfectly; however, I'm not getting many hits for it in Spanish, much less any translation in English. I guess "Electronic Authentication Code (EAC)" would work, or "e-Authentication Code (e-AC)".

Hope this helps :)

If I was defining the English term for this concept, I would definitely go down the "e-AC" route. Purely because it's two syllables in spoken English, as opposed to three (EAC)

Glad to be of help Stephanie! :))
