Dice una testigo que su hijo era muy cariñoso, y que le llevaba "su fruta y su pollo". (De Perú). ¿Es esto una frase con algún sentido más allá del literal?

In Perú and Chile (and perhaps Bolivia), adding a possessive pronoun to things is intended precisely to give a feeling of belonging and care/love.

También se hace con los diminutivos: "le llevaba su pollito, su frutita". Le da un tono familiar, y también de "le llavaba con cariño lo que le hacía falta", ¿me explico?

El posesivo le da una importancia especial a lo que le llevaba. Perfectamente podría haber dicho "le llevaba comida", pero no es suficiente. Probablemente ese pollo y fruta también le costaba conseguirlo, era algo preciado tanto para el hijo como para el padre.

I was impressed that there seems to be like a billion references on the web for "fruit and chicken salad". If it is really that popular, and especially in Peru, could bringing such a salad, even figuratively, mean something?
