twins under their skins / two cats under one hat
Explanation:
Two more ideas:

twins under their skins - i.e. on this inside, not to external appearances

two cats under one hat - to match the image of the siameses joined at the head and express the idea of intellectual unity

New version: twins beneath the skin.

(Because 'under the skin' could mean they get on each other's nerves.)

Joined at the hip by ideas and wit

Explanation:

a meeting of minds of different kinds

Explanation:
Or perhaps of "opposite kinds."

I know it's goofy, but if the image is of siamese twins joined at the head, I thought this might work.

like chalk-and-cheese Siamese

Explanation:
if two people are completely different, you say they're like "chalk and cheese"... (cheese rhymes with Siamese)
