Clarification request(s) and response
Patricia Rosas: 11:32pm Sep 20, 2005: For my part, the points definitely go to Marian! A decimal point makes a big difference!! For the record (and as I noted), I always get confused, and I always get a second opinion before sending something on to the client. -

USD 37.6 million; US$ 37.6 million... UNLESS....
Explanation:
in some Spanish-speaking countries the comma is NOT a decimal (in Mexico, for instance, usage is not consistent, but numbers are usually "American style)....

If from the rest of the document you see that , is NOT a decimal marker and that . is the decimal marker, then, for the U.S":

USD 37.6 billion; US$ 37.6 billion...

mil millones = billion in US English... thousand million in UK, although I hear that's not always the case.

USD 376 billion

Explanation:
I get confused, too! But mil millones when translated into English are a billion. This sum is 37.6 mil millones, right? If so, I think the answer is 376 billion: 37,600,000,000,000. (37.6 billion would be 37,600,000,000 and 37.6 million would only be 37,600,000).

37.600 millones de dólares estadounidenses

Explanation:
Confunden, no?

US dollars, absolutely sure now. Sorry for the mistake.
