NB, the University is saying it has become a research leader ('se ha convertido en una referencia en materia de investigación'), so this sort of flourish of trumpets about new eras is the feel of the source text.

I should say "phase" better than "era", which seems to me quite a lot of time ("phase" implying also an overall sense of change).
