Asker: Doesn't seem to make sense in literal English. I assume "them" are the "socios", but what would "between" mean in this limited context? Something is implied here, and I can't put my finger on it.

Spanruss:

Plena prueba "entre ellos y contra ellos". My understanding is that "entre ellos" is either "between" or "among" and referring to the "socios", depending on the number of parties to the suit (you have the full text in front of you to determine the appropriate wording. Between is for two parties, and if more, then among (I think?).

... it may then be better to say **"conclusive evidence for and against them"** (that way it gets around the no. of "socios".
