In this context the expression "autos (de juicio ordinario)" refers to ordinary (civil) proceedings, and you might translate "...Ante este Juzgado se tramitan AUTOS de juicio ordinario número XXX," something like "This Court is hearing Ordinary Proceedings No. xxx...". With respect to the difference between an "auto" and a "providencia", a "providencia" is a simple court order to move the proceedings forward (de "impulso procesal") or that document different stages in the proceedings, and it does not have to be substantiated ("motivado"). In contrast, an "auto" is an (interlocutory) order or ruling (which must be "motivado") and which "does not finally determine the cause of action, but only decides some intervening matter pertaining to the cause." (Black's) Here are definitions from the "Diccionario de Derecho Bosch", Barcelona, 1995: PROVIDENCIAS-Resolución judicial de carácter jurisdiccional que tiene por objeto la ordenación material del proceso para que éste siga el curso ordenado por la ley.
