disagree  AllegroTrans: The cadaster is NOT a property record - this is kept separately at the Land Registry - the cadaster contains the land survey

  -> no ot is not, and my answer deals with the adjective "catastral", pertaining to the property register (Varó Hughes), expressed as a compound noun - be careful between "catastral" and "catastro" and feel free to remove your disagree when you please!

cadastral or cadastral records

Explanation:
Of or according to a cadastre; having reference to the extent, value, and ownership of land, spec. for taxation; loosely, showing the extent and measurement of every plot of land.

From Shorter Oxford Dictionary

In Spain, the property register and the 'catastral' are different - and often conflicting. I don't know if this is so in Mexico...

The term cadastral is, I believe, more commonly used in the US than in the UK.

agree  AllegroTrans: Yes, this term should not be "converted" since the cadaster is a specific record that doesn't have an equivalent in the UK anyway

Explanation:
Catastral, again, squares with the Index Map kept at the UK Land Registry and is based on Ordnance Survey maps.

Using Latin words like cadastral is unhelpful, even if Eng. land lawyers write about the 'Cadastral Systems of Continental Europe',

Example sentence(s):
  • Plan Extent. BMCC LGA. SHEET INDEX. Map Sheet. website:. email:. LEGEND: MAP PANEL L. LEGEND: MAP PANEL K. LEGEND: MAP PANEL J. INDEX MAP SCALE 1 : 75 000 ...

neutral  AllegroTrans: Whilst I understand your logic (index map being the nearest UK equivalent) I see no reason not to use "cadastral" - it is an English word, and the index map and the cadaster do not equate (the latter is a full survey containing info not on an ind map)
