I am surprised that this question has never been asked! I am wondering if there is a good UK or USA equivalent, and if not, maybe a translation that specifically avoided sounding like it was one of these.

In any case, I plan to leave the Spanish with the translation for clarity's sake.

General Partnership
Explanation:
It seems to me that General Partnership is relatively analogous to Sociedad Civil Privada. Below are some links explaining the two.

Hope this helps! Saludos.

Sorry, forgot to say that this is for the U.S. I'm not sure if the same applies in U.K. business law.

Civil Society

Explanation:
Civil Society is not a translation in English, it is the used and accepted term. What does throw me in this one though is the term "Privada". It seems redundant to me as Civil Society or sociedad civil, are by its own phrasing not part of government and is denominated so, to mark a difference from the "public sector" or government.
Good luck!

Oh sorry, I had started speaking in English, anyway, no I was not referring to a company, but to what I just explained. Do you have more context?

Notes to answerer
Asker: This is referring to a type of company. I am not sure if your translation is also. I have never heard of a "civil society". Look at my reference in the discussion, it is very explicit about what exactly is meant in Spanish (Spain).

neutral  cmwilliams: Not in this context. A 'sociedad civil privada' is a partnership and there is nothing to indicate that it is a partnership with the public sector.

Reference information:
I would follow the example in your link and use the original Spanish term with 'Partnership' in brackets.

There is also a 'sociedad colectiva' which I have seen translated as 'general partnership'. Like the SCP, it is a partnership but there is a difference in the way it is set up, e.g it must be registered in the 'registro mercantil' whereas there is no official registration required for an SCP

An SCP would just be called a partnership in the UK.

The Partnership, or Sociedad Civil, in Spain is a business relationship formed by two or more people who contribute money, equipment and/or labor and divide the profits amongst themselves as they have agreed. Accordingly, any debts or financial obligations will also be divided amongst the parties. It’s good to keep in mind that anything not expressly agreed upon, either publicly or privately, will be governed by Spain’s Civil Code.

The Sociedad Civil doesn’t actually need to become an “official” business except in certain cases, if one of the parties should contribute real estate, for example. For that reason, no minimum financial investment is required. However, if you do make the business “official”, the business name should include the words Sociedad Civil.
