Nowadays, all the member states possess a public prosecuting authority, known variously as the **“state prosecutor”**, the **“prosecuting attorney”** or the **“public prosecutor”**. footnote 4 In all criminal justice systems, this authority plays a key role, with differences depending on whether it is a long established or a more recent institution. The status and role of the Public Prosecution have also evolved considerably, reflecting the scale of the reforms undertaken in many member states over the last ten years || Secondly, there are great differences in the institutional position of the public prosecutor from one country to another, firstly in terms of its relationship with the executive power of the state (which can range from subordination to independence), and secondly with regard to the relationship between prosecutors and judges: under some systems they belong to a single professional corps while in others they are entirely separate. http://cm.coe.int/ta/rec/2000/ExpRec(00)19.htm

I don´t know about Spain, but the differences between the Attorney General and the Director of Public Prosecutions given in Ailish\' reference are substantially the same as those existing between the Procurador General (+/-=Attorney General) and the Fiscal General (+/-= Director of Public Prosecutions) or Ministerio Fiscal (+/-= Crown Prosecution Service) in Venezuela.

Explanation: I would say Attorney General (for GB), see definitions and comparison with ES definition of Ministerio Fiscal below.
Her Majesty's Attorney General for England and Wales, usually known as the Attorney General, is the chief legal adviser of the Crown
.... He represents the Queen and the Government in court, and has supervisory powers over prosecutions, which are the responsibility of the Director of Public Prosecutions The Director of Public Prosecutions is the officer charged with the prosecution, in the name of the People, of all indictable criminal offences in Ireland since the enactment of the Prosecution of Offences Act, 1974. Before 1974 all crimes and offences were prosecuted at the suit of the Attorney General.
In the United Kingdom, the office of Director of Public Prosecutions was first created in 1880 as part of the Home Office, and had its own department from 1908. The DPP was only responsible for the prosecution of a small number of major cases until 1986 when responsibility for all prosecutions was transferred to a new Crown Prosecution Service with the DPP as its head.
..... Crown Prosecution Service is the arm of the Government of the United Kingdom responsible for public prosecutions of people charged with criminal offences in England and Wales. It is an agency of the Home Office, and is headed by the Director of Public Prosecutions.
The police investigate crimes and charge people. The CPS is responsible for deciding whether to actually prosecute, and for the prosecution itself, and defending any subsequent appeals.
..... The Attorney General also represents the Crown in many judicial proceedings relating to the public interest, e.g. the administration of charities and income tax. He is assisted by the Solicitor General Her Majesty's Solicitor General for England and Wales, often known as the Solicitor General, is one of the Law Officers of the Crown, and the deputy of the Attorney General, whose duty is to advise the Crown and Cabinet on the law.
