Is "verbal agent" the best translation? It sounds odd to me.

Explanation:
I can only speak for Spanish practice. The law recognizes both written and verbal contracts and agreements as binding, and a representative does not necessarily need notarial Powers of Attorney. However, an "apoderado" will hold some form of notarized P.A.
