Be careful. "Alegar" can mean "submit" or "plead", possibly more likely in the context.
It also seems likely to me that there would be a considerable amount of terminological transfer in the patent field between French and Spanish.
In French, "exposer" is translated as "discloses" or "displays" in terms of an invention.
I have found the European Communities Glossary particularly helpful with respect to patent terminology.
