Spanish to English translations [PRO] Science - Livestock / Animal Husbandry / MEXICO | | Spanish term or phrase: aves de corral en pie | This is from an extensive list of wholesale items from Mexico; there is no text, just the list. It has "aves en pie" "aves de corral" and "aves de corral en pie." They all seem like "poultry" to me. Does anyone know what the distinction is, if there is one?

Aves de corral is more specific than aves, but as you suggest, I think they are both poultry. Aves alone could be interpreted as wild birds, and the distinction is obviously important, although no ambiguity in this case.

Ganado en pie was detailed as for cría or cebo - breeding or fattening - hence my deduction!

www.unaga.org.co/asociados/angus.htm is where my quotation comes from. Sunday seems to be affecting my referencing! |

| standing poultry
Explanation: Wikipedia tells you about "aves de corral" being just "poultry" and even though I found hits for "poultry on foot" for "aves en pie", (as in 'on the hoof' ), I got way more hits for "standing poultry".
