En una encuesta de satisfacción, una de las posibles respuestas a la pregunta "Qué acciones considera Ud. que contribuirían para aumentar la venta de productos?" es:

Proveer mercadería de exhibición y muletos.

Tengo una noción de lo que podría ser un muleto, i.e. una copia "boba" de un producto, por ejemplo. Pero no encuentro ningún término.

This is how I read it from the hits I've been looking at:

In this case it would be a trial version, but your suggestions of "boba" made me think of dummy copies of objects which are used in exhibition - in shop windows (and on stage).
