Hola a todos.
Estoy traduciendo un documento sobre construcción natural en la Patagonia y uno de los materiales a los que se hace mención es la "cantonera". Me explican que es lo que se desacarta de un tronco al hacer los primeros cortes. Es decir que la cantonera es plana por un lado y del otro está la corteza del árbol. He tratado de buscar en Internet en sitios de aserraderos, para ver sus procesos de corte, pero no logro hallar nada.

"The first piece sawn from a log with the one face being round and containing the bark is called a slab. A few people will also call a large, thick piece of wood a slab, but this is not correct. Some slabs may contain enough wood to saw a short piece of wood; with valuable wood, some slabs may be resawn to recover this wood."

Asker: Hola PatinBA. Es bastante parecido a lo que se ve en la página de woohavenlog, pero me indican que conserva la corteza; o sea, el lado curvo no estaría cepillado, mas bien en bruto. Gracias.

Asker: Lisa, Thanks again for your collaboration. What they call "cantonera" in Patagonia is not what your link describes, but just the first cut from a timber when milling it, leaving a plain surface on one face and the outer shell of the log on the other. Anyway, it is an interesting link the one you've provided. Thanks!
