"Pectoral" alone really is OK for this; I have cited a couple of references and the are very many more. Here are Google results from a search for pectoral precolumbian:

There are thousands: gold pectorals, stone pectorals, mirror pectorals, and so on. Amerindian pectorals can be plaques, but not all are.
But if you prefer, I think it would be OK to use "pectoral ornament".

In the Christian church, by the way, a pectoral cross or pectorale is a standard item, worn by clergy of various denominations: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pectoral_cross

"pectoral - An ornament or a decoration worn on the chest. A breastplate is sometimes called a pectoral. A low necklace may also be called a pectoral.
Egypt, Lahun, Pectoral with the name of Senwosret II, c. 1897-1878 BCE, Dynasty 12, reigns of Senwosret II-Amenemhat III, Middle Kingdom, gold, carnelian, feldspar, garnet, turquoise, length of pectoral 3 1/4 inches (8.3 cm), Metropolitan Museum of Art, NY. See Egyptian art."
