Spanish term or phrase: De mi barrio al cielo.
Hello,
I'm not sure i understand the exact meaning of this term and i was hoping to get some opinions.
Context: A reporter asks a man if he likes living in his neighbourhood. He repiles that it is a quite a rough neighbourhood but at the end of the day its his neighbourhood. Then he says "De mi barrio al cielo".
What does he mean? I thought perhaps it might be something like My neighbourhood is the shit or perhaps something totally different as in "heaven is the next stop after my neighbourhood" Anybody have any suggestions.
Thanks in advance.

agree  rich.: I agree with this as, although I may be wrong, he may be saying this with a touch of resignation about the fact that he probably won't get to travel the world or live "uptown" before he meets his maker. Seems I am wrong although you're not. Oh well :-)

agree  Charles Davis: Yes, it means he loves the place. "De Madrid al cielo" is a very common slogan in Madrid. I've always understood it to mean that Madrid is the nearest thing to heaven on this earth.
