agree Scott Alexander: Another, slightly longer but hopefully equivalent and perhaps also slightly clearer possibility might be "by adjusting/modifying the centrifuge flow rate" -- http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=%22centrifuge+flow+rate...

agree Maria Arcelus: Yes, like Scott I find the centrifuge flow a little hard to take, but then my option: adjusting flow in the centrifuge may sound like Spanglish?
