Spanish to English translations [PRO] Medical - Medical: Health Care / emergency room billing | | Spanish term or phrase: A.T.S. DE URGENCIAS | | From an Emergency Room invoice in Spain. Patient went to the Emergency room by ambulance and had a cast put on her leg. Following the field "Dr." for the cast and two shots, the invoice reads, "A.T.S. DE URGENCIAS". What does "A.T.S." stand for in English? Does it refer to "staff"? |

| | Services of A&E staff or similar | Explanation: In this circumstance, probably best to put Services of A&E/ER (depending on whether for UK or USA) staff or something similar. Normally I would translate ATS as assistant nurse, or medical assistant, which is what they really are.
As to my sources - well, I live in Spain a few minutes from a hospital, in which I have unfortunately spent some time, and 2 of my friends and neighbours are ATS and another is a real nurse !! |

| Grading comment I decided on "medical assistant" since there was disagreement on the "registered nurse" term, and this seemed the best grade below nurse. Thanks to everybody! 4 KudoZ points were awarded for this answer |
