Spanish to English translations [PRO]
Medical - Medical: Health Care / Hospital management
Spanish term or phrase: camas arquitectonicas (CAR)
This is a line in a table listing heath care services available or budgeted. It says:

camas arquitectonicas (CAR)
camas presupuestadas (CPR)

I understand this to mean beds physically present. I have seen comparisons between "beds available" and "beds budgeted" - but never "architectural beds"!! Is someone familiar with an expression other than "beds available" that more closely approximates the Spanish?

CAMAS ARQUITECTONICAS.- Es el número de camas que debe contener el hospital de acuerdo a su diseño y construcción. Se llama también capacidad máxima de camas.

I would like to change the translation to "MAXIMUM BED CAPACITY"

I think this option is more appropriate is more appropriate and in brackets it would be (MBC).

agree  Victoria Burns: sounds a very natural solution to me//possibly, but I think it would depend on context, whereas 'available beds' could be used more widely.
