Could there be an argument for translating the "de consumo/de efecto" as biomarkers of exposure and effect"?

My very first reading makes me wonder whether the "de efecto" is a little superfluous. They are developing biomarkers to help them identify patterns of how a mediterranean diet will help prevent cv disease. So althoughthe Spanish says "the effects of patterns", surely the same meaning is implied if you simply say they are trying to identify the patterns?
