Creo que el término se empezó a usar con relación a la pobreza (354.000 citas en Google):

Se usa "feminization of", "feminized poverty"... y según entiendo es no solo que algo se propaga entre las mujeres, sino que lo hace a un ritmo mayor que entre los hombres.
