This comes from the results of a blood test on a patient with kidney failure, listing a number of variables:

Srm.Urea; ****c. sust.**** * 11.8 mmol/L [ 3.3 - 8 ] Srm. Creatinina; ****c. sust.***** * 99 #Ěmol/L [0-86 ] .... Srm.Albumina; c.masa(CRM 470) 41 g/L [33-50 ]

I am fairly sure the c. sust means caudal de sustancia and c masa is caudal de masa

The document is from a catalan hospital, so it mixes spanish and catalan somewhat

The definition of 'amount concentration' in the IUPAC Compendium of Chemical Terminology (Gold Book) is http://goldbook.iupac.org/A00295.html
Note that 'amount concentration' is called 'substance concentration' in clinical chemistry (ie, here) to avoid any ambiguity with mass concentration in g/L

agree  Nigel Wheatley: see also the IUPAC Green Book http://old.iupac.org/publications/books/gbook/green_book_2ed... the index of symbols starts on page 141. These symbols shouldn't change between languages (although obviously they do sometimes). See also note 15 on page 42.
