It has been pointed out to me that my translation doesn't fit, which after looking closer at the context I agree , (I assumed the inspection was outward from the center 'for' white stains), reading more carefully I realize this term is actually another fault to look for during the inspection. I would modify my translation to being "off center" or ""misaligned"

neutral  liz askew: If this is the meaning "from the centre outwards" would make more sense to me. And how does this link in with "white marks and contamination". Unless it is "inspect....." for white marks and contamination, from the centre outwards.
