Below is a definition of the Latin word
"officinalis", based on research that I recently did:

kept on hand as a remedy, originally referring to a remedy kept in stock by a druggist as opposed to compounds specially prepared <= Latin officina ‘storeroom’, often used in reference to plants with medicinal properties

-> I'm sorry you're upset. These expressions are used in everyday language and mean the same thing. I recently did research for school on the word "officinal." 73,900 refs for "compound preparations" vs. 1,190 for "magistral preparations"

and it has nothing to do with points.

I have tons of them, so why should I worry. The point is that accuracy is very important in medical/pharmaceutical translation.
