"Faja" can also be translated "girdle", but I'm not sure workmen would want to put it on if you called it that!

lumbar support belt

Explanation:
"Lumbar support belt" appears to be the common term. See the following citations:

http://store.yahoo.com/champion-america1/lumsupbel.html

“OK1® Model 1000 Lumbar Support Belt molds perfectly to abdomen with orthopedically-designed lumbar pad insert. Comes with detachable suspenders.”

http://www.morningpride.com/products/structural/coat/lumbar....

“Morning Pride has received a patent on the concept of integrating a Lumbar Support belt into the linings of a fire garment.”

http://www.orsim.co.yu/thuasne_lumbar_support_belts1.htm

"Back pain affects more than two in three people. Usually of mechanical origin, lower back pain can be improved by various different treatments mainly aimed at providing pain-relief. Of these, compression using a lumbar support belt offers many benefits.”

There certainly are other terms in use for pretty much the same object, but the semantical focus in those other terms is different in each case, For instance, some are marketed specifically for lifting, some for pregnant women, some mention the sacral bone in addition to the lumbar vertebrae. The term you have appears to specifically refer to lumbar support, and to nothing else.

I hope this is sufficient.
