Practical Nursing (LPN)


Language variant: USA English

Explanation:
In the USA, if you go to a technical school as opposed to a university, you become an LPN or Licensed Practical Nurse. The career that you study is called "practical nursing." When you finish the program you receive a diploma and then can go through the licensing process.
This is what it sounds like to me.

agree  mariacm: We definitely say LPN or practical nursing in the US. I haven't heard Professional Nursing used, and I have worked in healthcare for 10 years.

disagree  Muriel Vasconcellos: After some research, I have confirmed that "professional nursing" refers to the RN career path and entails earning the baccalaureate degree or equivalent.

  -> If you note I said LPN is technical school, which is a practical nursing degree after which you go for licensure. Notice you put earning a baccalaureate degree which, since the asker said it was not a university degree doesn't make sense.

disagree  Carol Chaparro: I do not think it is necessary to put a new answer of "professional nursing" if there are already 3 of that same answer that were there well before yours. I also do not think that there is a career called "professional nursing." there is LPN or RN.
