of normal size
Explanation:
Normogloso is the adjectival form of normoglosia, which is a descriptor of the size of the tongue. It's contrasted with macroglosia and microglosia, which respectively refer to a tongue of larger and smaller than normal size.

Macroglossia and microglossia are used in English, but "normoglossia" is not in common use. You just say "tongue of normal size".

Here the word has been misused, because it only properly applies to the tongue. The second half of the word, "glosia" or "gloso", is derived from the Greek γλῶσσα, meaning tongue.

"-glossia,
1 suffix meaning "related to the tongue": cacoglossia, megaloglossia, schistoglossia."
http://medical-dictionary.thefreedictionary.com/-glossia

"La macroglosia es un trastorno en el que la lengua es más grande de lo normal"
http://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Macroglosia

Some references to show that it refers to size:

"LENGUA
A NIVEL ANATÓMICO
- Normoglosia
- Macroglosia
- Microglosia
- Frenillo
- Tono [...]
en la lengua:
- Tamaño normal
microglosia: la lengua excesivamente pequeña [...]
macroglosia: lengua excesivamente grande"

"Lengua:

http://www.dspace.uce.edu.ec/bitstream/25000/2748/1/T-UCE-00...

"Que posicione la lengua en reposo sobre el suelo de la boca, en esta postura se observará su tamaño (normoglosia, microglosia, macroglosia) [...]"
http://ardilladigital.com/DOCUMENTOS/EDUCACION ESPECIAL/LOGO...

"PHYSICAL EXAMINATION [...]
Pupils are equal and reactive. Oropharynx clear. Tongue normal size."
http://medical-transcription-sample-reports.blogspot.com.es/...

What's happened in your text, where it's incorrectly applied to the lips as well, is that whoever wrote this thought that "normogloso" just meant "normal size", without realising it applied specifically, by definition, to the tongue.

moist mucous membranes

Explanation:
Both the Spanish and English describe the mucous membranes of the mouth having an appropriate amount of mucous on them. I believe this is also a sign of proper hydration.

This answer comes from my partner who is studying medical school in the US by the way.

This source also indicates that 'normoglosa' means with appropriate mucous and hydration: "De esta valoramos si los labios son simétricos, hidratación de la mucosa oral, si la lengua es normo coloreada, normo glosa, húmeda, con presencia de pailas gustativas, si existe la ausencia de piezas dentales, ni caries, si la úvula esta central, y las amígdalas eutróficas, y por ultimo que las parótidas no estén palpables." http://informacion01medica.blogspot.com/2012/06/tomada-de-go...

Wikipedia describing a 'mouth assessment' says 'The lips should be symmetrical, pink, smooth and moist.' http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mouth_assessment

It also gives "Moist mucous membranes" as a finding in the HEENT exam. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HEENT_examination

neutral  Joseph Tein: Does your partner know Spanish, or just medicine? I'd like to see something that specifically explains what "normogloso" means. And I'm not sure what you mean about the English ... the source text above is just spanish.

-> I mean the source Spanish and my English translation. Yes partner speaks Spanish and she immediately produced this English upon hearing the Spanish.

disagree  Yazmin Osoyo: "normogloso" only refers to the SIZE of the tongue, mucous tissue is not involved
