Spanish to English translations [PRO] Tech/Engineering - Mining & Minerals / Gems / Mexico | | Spanish term or phrase: apartado | This is from a glossary of silversmithing terms. I was considering using "separating house" but I only find a few hits in a Google search in this context (and they are either old or refer to nitroglycerine production). Does anyone know what this would be called today?
Apartado. |

| Note from asker to answererI'm going to use "separation" because I find links for that term in context, but I wouldn't have thought of that if you hadn't suggested "sorting". Thanks for your help! 2 KudoZ points were awarded for this answer |

Asker: Yaotl: thanks for your answer, but are you able to give me some references? I can't find this used with descriptions of silver/gold ore processing. I find a lot of discussion of "separation" of the ore from the waste material around it, but not "sorting" (except for "sorting houses" which mostly appear in a context that isn't referring to modern mining). Thx!
