Junto a la lengua, llegaba la música europea an un momento de alta elaboración intelectual y propiamente artística, "iniciándose también la conquista definitiva de sus valores instrumentales".
The author has given me the following explanation of what he means: La idea es de conquistar, como alcanzar. 'valores instrumentales', quiere decir música instrumental propiamente dicha, no coral, vocal, religiosa etc.
