Un ensilaje de primera

Bolsen divide los procesos de ensilaje en cuatro fases: aeróbica, fermentación, estable y sin alimento.

Durante la fase aeróbica, cuando el ensilaje se pica y se coloca en el silo, ciertos sistemas biológicos de la planta todavía están funcionando. Las enzimas de la planta degrada el azúcar soluble a dióxido de carbono y agua, y las proteínas en aminoácidos libres y amoníaco. Ambas reacciones son indeseables debido a que destruyen nutrimentos valiosos y disminuyen la cantidad del sustrato de la fermentación.
