estoy de acuerdo con que el jefe de cátedra es el "Professor". Sin embargo, "Ayudante de Cátedra" tanto en Latinoamérica como en España, generalmente se refiere a un estudiante avanzado y raramente a un "Assistant Professor", que es un título que acá en USA muchos médicos por ej. mantienen aún después de los 40 años e implica un status superior.
"Ayudante" yo lo traduciría más bien como "Aid to the Professor".
