Spanish term or phrase: Introducción a la C. Jurídica
Course listing on a transcript from a university in Colombia. Any idea on what the "C" stands for?
Frank Johnson
English translation:Introduction to the Science of Law, or Introduction to the study of Law
Explanation:
C. means, almost without a shadow of doubt, Science (ciencia). So, literally translated, It means "Introduction to the Science of Law". However, the English law tradition does not use to think of the law as a independent and autonomous science, as the latin countries tradition usually does. So, I think the most appropriate English equivalent is "Introduction to the study of the law", for this is he expression they most often use.
Again, here we are depending also on the content and the ideological orientation of the course.

Best regards,
Élcio.
