English translation: Autonomous Community of Madrid

Spanish to English translations [PRO]
Spanish term or phrase: Comunidad de Madrid
Is it correct to translate this simply as Community of Madrid ? I am aware that it denotes an autonomous region in Spain but how to get that across in English is the difficulty I am having.
Sandra
English translation:Autonomous Community of Madrid
Explanation:
Autonomous Community, referring to the regional governements of Spain, is a widely accepted translation.

Thus I would use the Autonomous Community of Madrid, and possibly indicate in some way it's function, (for the 'no-enterados') by making a reference to a functional equivalent such as the 'regional governemnt of Madrid'.

greater Madrid

Explanation:
I have used "Community of Madrid" in translations and it has been accepted by my very persnickety client, but I think "greater Madrid" is more comprehensible generally.

I agree with Ailish

Explanation:
"Autonomous Community of Madrid" is the official denomination of the "Comunidad Autónoma de Madrid". The problem is, in Spain the "Autónoma" part is often ommitted.

MADRID AUTONOMOUS REGION

Explanation:

I agree with Ailish. The full name is "Comunidad Autónoma

Explanation:
de Madrid", and although it is equal to a Spanish Autonomous Region, it actually refers to Madrid and its peripherical towns, considered as important as a region because of relative population density.
