"cerillo" es una expresión muy local, muy mexicana que se usa para nombrar el trabajo que hacen los niños en los supermercados al final de las cajas, empacando las cosas que los clientes compran en bolsas de plástico. A cambio reciben una propina de parte de los clientes lo que les permite ahorrar dinero para comprar algo que les guste o incluso para apoyar a sus familias con el gasto familiar.
La profesión de "cerillo" es de lo más común en México y practicamente los encuentras en todos los supermercados.

Also known as a "bag boy", but this one is not specific to the supermarket. You could say "supermarket bag boy" if you wanted to emphasize the fact that he's a child.

neutral Heidi C: I don't think courtesy clerk works here, because patrons are expected to tip these kids (actually, in some supermarkets there will even be a sign letting you know that the only money they will receive is the tip)
