Explanation:
Puede ser \"electric\" or \"gas\". Así se los llama aquí en Argentina. También existen los \"termotanques\", que son prácticamente la misma cosa, pero con funcionamiento diferente. En el caso del calefón, el agua pasa por una serpentina y se calienta, por lo cual hay un caudal continua de agua caliente. En el caso del termotanque, hay precisamente un tanque de agua que se calienta y se mantiene a una temperatura constante. Una vez que el tanque se vacía, se vuelve a llenar y el agua fría se calienta.

Explanation:
"Flash" es el término clave ya que calienta el agua en el momento al pasar ésta por la serpentina. En EE.UU. poco se conocen, el aparato que se usa es un depósito que retiene una cantidad de agua ya caliente todo el tiempo.

Conozco de más los dos tipos.
