Spanish term or phrase: educación media superior=advanced secondary education?
I would just like a confirmation from ***somebody familiar with the Mexican education system***, to make sure I am on the right track.

My understanding is that a degree with the classification "educación media superior" means that it is still a secondary program (i.e. high school level). However, unlike in North America, it has a higher degree of specialization, and would be somewhat close to a Technical Diploma.

To stay safe, I am calling it "advanced secondary education". Am I on the right track here?

Thanks!

some alternatives based on def.: "La Ley General de Educación establece que la educación media superior: "comprende el nivel de bachillerato, los demás niveles equivalentes a éste, así como la educación profesional que no requiere bachillerato o sus equivalentes".

Thanks a million Cecilia! That option sounds even better. Normally I wait for more answers, but I am happy with your answer (vocational works very well here). Russell

agree  MikeGarcia: Parrot speaks the truth,Russell's translation would be the ideal one for Argentina but apparently not for Mexico.
