Explanation:
This is what sounds natural to me in English. It sounds strange to me to refer to the police as an "emergency service" (since their mandate as a law enforcement entity extends far beyond responding to emergencies.

  -> Here in US, there is also "911," and there are stickers placed on telephones that have "emergency numbers" for police and fire depts. I'm being a bit nitpicky here, I know, but I always feel: the more precise, the better. Thank you. :)
