In this case context is really essential. "Apostar por" is often difficult to translate well. There are several possibilities that often work in particular cases, such as "opt for/to" or "commit oneself to", but it's impossible to tell which is most suitable without seeing the sentence in which it is used.
Try the KudoZ glossaries too; look for "apostar" and also other forms like "apostado". Look at the archive entries, not just the glossary entries; sometimes the chosen answer (in the glossary) is not the best option for your context, and other answers given to the original question can be more useful. |
