Another example is concuñado, which describes the relationship between two people married to siblings. My sister-in-law\'s husband is my concuñado. My brother-in-law\'s wife would be my concuñada. Interpreters get around these difficulties by rendering the concept clearly, i.e. by saying \"She is on my in- law\'s side of the family\" or, if nothing else works, by leaving the word in Spanish for the record, so that the lawyers can ask follow-up questions, as in: \"He was a practitioner of santería.\"

agree  Henry Hinds: Right, that is how you have to say it. His wife is your sister-in-law by definition. Concuño = concuñado (México).

Regarding Sol\'s comment to Manzana above: I really do think you would say \"...and his wife.\"

Personally, I don\'t always refer to my husband\'s brother\'s wife as my \"sister-in-law\" -- I\'ll say something like \"My brother-in-law and his wife are coming to visit.\" This also helps distinguish who is the blood-relation.

the point is, if this man is my sister-in-law\'s husband (concuño) then why the \"y su esposa\". It\'s like saying (this is just an example) my sister-in-law and her husband, when actually he is my brother, the \"natural\" way to express it would be my brother and his wife or my brother and my sister-in-law (end of my example). So, the point is, if this guy is my sister-in-law\'s husband, then that\'s how it should be expressed, be it Spanish or English...el marido de mi cuñada / mi concuñado, concuño
my sister-in-law\'s husband... and definitely NOT \"mi concuño y su esposa\" which is just creating a lot of confusion and misunderstandings. Just my opinion.

I think it's best if we put some names. Personal works best. Then you can draw these people on paper and start making the ties. Or you can translate into your personal experience to get a clear idea:

OPTION 1:
I am Luis
I have a sister named Ana married to Matt
Matt has one brother and one sister
Matt's brother Brad is my concuño (concuñado) and viceversa, I am his too. So we are concuños.

ANSWER 1:
My brother-in-law's brother and his wife
(Now, all of the characters above may change, except the fact that in the answer below brother and his wife havee to remain to match your question. Example: My brother Oscar is married to Jane; Janés brother Chip is my concuño. Here it would be "My sister-in-law's brother and his wife")

OPTION 2:
I am Luis. I am married to Virginia.
I have a sister named Ana married to Matt.
Matt and Virginia are concuños.
Matt is the concuño of Virginia, and Virginia is the concuña of Matt.

ANSWER 2:
So, in this case, Virginia would say...
"My sister-in-law's husband and her wife." THIS WOULD NOT WORK, AS THE WIFE IN THIS SENTENCE IS VIRGINIA'S SISTER IN LAW, AND SHE WOULD SAY IT THE OTHER WAY AROUND : "My sister-in-law and her husband."
It would not work with the example of my brother Oscar and his wife Jane either.

So, my informed response, is that it's option 1.
Either:
My brother-in-law's brother and his wife
OR
My sister-in-law's brother and his wife

All other relationships described above except these described in the two options above may be culturally valid, but they definitely do not match the Spanish Language Academy's definition for the word concuñado(a), synonym of concuño(a)
