mock-up Explanation: Mock-up is one of the translations given in Collins. Here are some examples of its use in this context. "We will be able to show the client an early prototype or mock-up of the solution/We won’t be able to show the client an early prototype or mock-up" (http://www.computer.org/software/so1997/html/s3035.htm) Badgers of Boreley are a family run company who manufacture garden furniture. Recently sales have been low and they are anxious to increase turnover. They have asked your computer software firm to produce a computer mock-up of a telephone sales system to help them sell their new range of garden chairs. model, protorype (more extensive) or mock-up Explanation: sound alright in this context; a maquette would be more for architectural or monumental projects. |

simulation Explanation: Simulation sounds better in an IT context. Model is OK also as a more generic term, it fits well. |

Yes "Prototype" Explanation: You should use this word because it refers to something that was made to be tested and in the contex that you gave refers to machine project in wich a software is offered with it, therefore I think is a kind of pc accessory though "Maqueta" in spanish is used in other context, is not correct dummie, moque up, could also work model but in this case is prototype in order to let you know that we are talking abaut of something that might be improved and is not a final version. "Beta version" Explanation: There isn't much context to go from, so the other suggestions might be better, but keep in mind that a prototype of a software application (and less frequently, websites) is frequently called a "Beta version", especially for a limited release to the public. Consider also "demo version" but this refers to something else (evaluation copies of full release applications that require purchase for full functionality). "The ICQ Groupware, Beta Version, can be deployed over any TCP/IP network including LAN, WAN, Internet and Dial-up networks. This revolutionary Intranet system raises internal communications to a new standard of excellence" "• Welcome to Carnegie Mellon Architecture ENTER. New School of Architecture WebSite (Beta Version) --> URL: http://www.arc.cmu.edu/ " general knowledge |
