>> see below << Explanation: A "techo" is a roof, and by extension a building. Based on parallel requirements in U.S. land-use planning legislation, I believe that "sobretechos" refers to the fact that one or more buildings or similar structures must be present on the land in order for the land to be included under the Agricultural Reform Act (and therefore eligible to receive development subsidies). "ociosidad" = the condition of being unused or idle. The term is related to the English word "otiose," meaning "unused, idle, ineffective, or profitless." (In a specifically agricultural context, in English a field that is not being cultivated is said to be "lying fallow.") (Incidentally, "acre" is the same word in Spanish, and "acreage" in Spanish would be "superficie medida en acres" or a comparable phrase. All land consists of some amount of acreage; besides, land in Central America is usually measured in hectares…) |

vea abajo por favor shelter or tin roofing Explanation: In this context I would say shelter. I know what sobretechos means but don't know how to say it in English - it's the one piece tin roofing you'd see down there on houses, barnyard areas for shade, etc. Here they sell it for camping, etc. Found a central american website that sells them but they translate it as sobre ceilings. I'd go with shelter. Hope this helps! Suerte !!! Here's the ad I found: Manufacture, assembly and sale of: sobreceilings, mobile field kitchens, porches, carpentry of aluminum, and everything what you need for the camping, field house or garden. excess fallow land Explanation: It's part of the agrarian reform act where campesinos can claim title to excess fallow land held by large landowners. "Ociosidad", as Heathcliff has correctly stated, does mean "idleness". Land becomes idle. or fallow, because of the migratory nature of the Honduran agricultural system, where land is farmed until it is depleted of nutrients, and then left fallow until it recovers. Peasant farmers are entitled to claim any excess fallow land. See the bilingual Spanish-French website below. Hope this helps.
