Explanation:
As pointed out by one of the colleagues, it depends where you use the term. As born and raised in Argentina but with 30 years in Spain, I can tell you "leche hervida" means she is easily upset but it does not last long, in both countries, "agua hervida" is a term I've never heard neither in Argentina nor in Spain and "calentona" in Argentina generally means "bad tempered" but in Spain, definitely, "horny". The most neutral form would be: "She's quite short-tempered when it comes to her job and family." (or she has a very short temper when...)

Around here we also say "calderita de lata" (heats up a lot, akin to a boiling teapot/kettle! :)

If you want to keep the flavour, you should start collecting some idioms... like hell-on-wheels, or hotheaded... some very good suggestions have already been made!
