This is from an academic paper on the active vs. passive euthanasia debate.

Casi todas las religiones consideran que la vida es un Don de Dios, es sagrada y contra ella no se puede atentar so pena de enfrentarse a Dios.

What I have so far is:

Almost all religions consider life to be a gift from God, something sacred, and attempts against it cannot be carried out on pain of clashing with God.

This does not sound good at all to me...your comments/ideas are welcome!
