The extract below is very relevant, although the author is Japanese and this is reflected in the English:

"The first article of the Human Cloning Regulation Law offers the protect of the “dignity of the person” as one of its purposes. Here the wording is the “dignity of the person”—not the “dignity of the human being.”
This law is the first established within the Japanese legal system the expression the “dignity of the person,” and the main point of my talk PERSONALISTIC BIOETHICS 85 today could also be thought of as clarify what the “dignity of the person”
actually means."

("fuero" can be translated as "charter, privilege" which I think is the same sense as "dignity" here)
