Spanish term or phrase: de su propia cantera
Si bien es cierto que [list of authors] han provisto distintas reflexiones de su propia cantera al respecto, estas son insuficientes y a menudo defectuosas.

When you mentioned the monsoon I checked your profile to see if you'd moved somewhere really tropical! I thought it was all dry heat thereabouts. Live and learn...

Thank you, Chris! I went "of their own creation." Hope you're doing well! (It is supposed to reach 37 c today, so I can hardly wait for our fifth season--the monsoon--to begin!) Thanks to everyone for the suggestions!!

Explanation:
maybe it refers to authors' practice of quoting from the works of other authors in their own works -- those who have influenced their own work.

of their own authority

Explanation:

This means that they are stating views without referring to sources. In other words, they are being original, their creativity arising from their own intellectual resources.

each one from the perspective of his own realm of thought

Explanation:
This is one tricky one. Cantera is various used to express a realm of thought (i.e. "canteras del pensamiento de Lutero" www.wisdomrealm.com/religion-protestante/ en caché), a branch or field of interest or research, particularly in philosphy (i.e. "unas aperturadas (sic) por Foucault en la cantera de la comprensión social" - sorry lost URL), etc. I think if there is enough surrounding context and the person's "canon" has already been defined, it could be expressed as simply as perspective, point of viewor philosphy.
