Spanish to English translations [PRO]
Art/Literary - Philosophy / dialogos filosoficos
Spanish term or phrase: Lo supremo
Se trata de un diálogo de inspiración neoplatónica que tuvo mucha repercusión en los compositores renacentistas. En él,  la música es concebida como una de las disciplinas liberales que conducen a la contemplación filosófica y, en último término, a la teología y a lo supremo.

the highest sphere

Explanation:
Another option, focusing more closely on Neo-Platonic terminology.

The spiritual ascent, in Neo-Platonic thought, was conceived in terms of geocentric Ptolemaic cosmology, whereby the soul rose through successive spheres corresponding to the known heavenly bodies, finally reaching the Platonic heaven beyond the highest (seventh) sphere (as described in the last book of Plato's Republic). This realm, known as Empyrean (the realm of fire, the highest heaven) was seen as the soul's divine origin. This spiritual ascent, for Neo-Platonists, was strongly assisted by music, which was seen as possessing a cosmic dimension (the "music of the spheres"). The famous expression of this in Spanish is Fray Luis de León's sixteenth-century Ode to Salinas:

El aire se serena
y viste de hermosura y luz no usada,
Salinas, cuando suena
la música extremada
por vuestra sabia mano gobernada.

A cuyo son divino
mi alma, que en olvido está sumida,
torna a cobrar el tino
y memoria perdida
de su origen primero esclarecida. [...]

Traspasa el aire todo
hasta llegar a la más alta esfera,
y oye allí otro modo
de no perecedera
música, que es de todas la primera. [...]"

the loftiest concepts held by humankind

Explanation:
I think in English it's helpful to expand the term to explain what it refers to: concepts higher than those of everyday living
